The National Child Cancer Network works in partnership with many organisations and Networks involved in the child cancer continuum of care and support.

Our key partners can be seen in the diagram below. 

Te Aho o Te Kahu | The Cancer Control Agency

Te Aho o Te Kahu is a government agency created in recognition of the impact cancer has on the lives of New Zealanders. The Agency lead and unite efforts to deliver better cancer outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand. Te Aho o Te Kahu’s work is guided by the goals and outcomes in the National Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.

Relationship to NCCN: The National Child Cancer Network is funded by Te Aho o Te Kahu (Cancer Control Agency) with active participation and support from its lead advisers.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora manages all health services, including hospital and specialist services, and primary and community care. This includes the two Specialist Treatment Centres and Shared Care Centres

Specialist Treatment Centres: There are two Specialist Treatment Centres for childhood cancers in Aotearoa: the Starship Blood and Cancer Centre in Auckland and the Children’s Haematology Oncology Centre in Christchurch. These centres provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and long term follow-up for children and adolescents with cancer and non-malignant haematological conditions.

Clinical Networks

Our partner Clinical Network are:

The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Network provides strategic direction, clinical leadership and monitoring of AYA cancer in New Zealand. The aim of the network is to find new and innovative ways of delivering care to all AYAs diagnosed with cancer and to improve outcomes.

The adult focused Cancer National Clinical Network leads work to improve health outcomes, and reduce variations in access to cancer care in Aotearoa.

Our key NGO partners, who are also on the NCCN Reference Group are:

Child Cancer Foundation is a New Zealand charity that provides support to children and families on their cancer journey

Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC) is the leading organisation in New Zealand dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood conditions.

 

Canteen supports young people aged 13-24 when cancer turns their world upside down and helps them cope with the physical, emotional and practical impact of living with cancer.
